School of Information Technologies   Printer Limits
 TitleIndex   WordIndex

The School administers a printer limits system based around semester usage.

The printer limits system maintains a page limit and a usage count for all users with a limit. The number of pages in each job to be printed is estimated, and if the user has a limit, the printing only proceeds if the difference between the limit and the current usage is sufficient. Usage is updated after each successful print job.

Page usage for all users is reset once a semester.

Printer limits are typically imposed on all undergraduate and masters coursework students. Undergraduate printer limits are based on the units of study in which each student is enrolled. Masters coursework students have a uniform printer limit.

A user can check their limit and current usage with the command [WWW]prquota (or the WWW version [WWW]prquota) from any of the School's Linux or Unix servers.
