Good tutors are critical for the success of our courses as they interact on an individual basis with students and provide the most effective learning opportunities. Our tutors are typically senior undergraduate and postgraduate students. To support them we run the faculty tutor training program that is compulsory for all new tutors. It consists of an orientation workshop that is run in week-0 (the week before the semester starts) and activities that tutors complete with their unit of study coordinator during the semester.

The Principles and Practice of University Teaching and Learning (P&P) is a 2-day program run by ITL, followed by a Faculty activity. It provides a basic introduction to the principles of teaching and learning in higher education, how to best facilitate student learning and understanding, and also helps to develop some practical teaching skills.
The current Faculty activity is microteaching and discussion. After completion of the 2-day program with ITL, please contact the Sub-Dean Learning and Teaching to organise the Faculty activity.
