Enrolment information for research students

Students commencing a research degree (PhD or MPhil), and those returning from a period of suspension must enrol online.

Ensure you enrol in the right units of study

Students may be required by their supervisor to complete units of study that relate to their research. Permission and notification from the supervisor and research director must be forwarded by using the variation of enrolment form. The Faculty of of Engineering and Information Technologies will then confirm whether this request has been approved or declined.

Please note that students cannot enrol in postgraduate units of study out of general interest but only where there will be a direct impact on their research. Research candidates need to focus on their research and may be distracted if enrolled in other units of study that are not appropriate to their research.

INFO5993 Research Methods in IT
For students enrolled in the School of Information Technologies, it is also mandatory to satisfactorily complete INFO5993 Research Methods in IT (6 credit points). You will complete modules such as how to do a literature survey, experimental method and statistics and an introduction in how to do research.
