Engineering and Information Technologies was privileged to participate in the Expo 2010 Shanghai
23 August 2010
A symposium on the inter-disciplinary theme, 'Innovations in Biomedical Engineering and Information Technologies', was held at the Australian pavilion on 8 August 2010.
The event was jointly hosted with the Med-X Institute at the Shanghai Jiaotong University in Shanghai China.
Professor Dagan Feng from the School of Information Technologies in the Faculty led a team of four other leading researchers from Sydney and were joined by prominent researchers from Shanghai Jiaotong University to present and discuss the latest in research and related developments in this exciting area. The symposium was one of a number of similar events organised by the University of Sydney at the Expo.
High level inter-governmental roundtables were also organised by the University at the Australian pavilion. These were coordinated by the Australian Government with ministerial representation at the event. A roundtable discussion on innovations to showcase Australian excellence in robotics and to consider future social applications relevant to the 'Better City Better Life' theme of the EXPO will be held in October with Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte from the Faculty leading the discussions. Professor Durrant-Whyte is the Director of the Australian Centre for Field Robotics.
