Thesis title: Hydrothermal conversion of biomass to high value chemicals

Supervisors: Alejandro MONTOYA , Brian HAYNES

Thesis abstract:

Biomass has been considered as a renewable resources to produce biofuel and other platform chemicals. Thermochemical conversion of biomass such as hydrothermal liquefaction might be a promising pathway as a route to transform biomass to high value products. Lactic acid is one of the examples of platform chemicals. It could be obtained from hydrothermal degradation of cellulose and has a wide-range application in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries.
