Thesis title: Design a new function to identify the most influential actors in structure of enterprise social networks

Thesis abstract:

Social Network analysis (SNA) has been broadly used in organizational studies, including; change management, knowledge management, information management, communication management, stakeholder management, innovation, etc. . Researchers use SNA as a key technique to understand the structure and behaviors of social networks in complex and dense inter-organizational systems . Moreover, behavior of actors in the structure of social network has been introduced as a key influential factor in outcomes of the networks. For instance; the role of the centrality of the actors in influence spread throughout social networks has been studied in areas of technology innovations, knowledge management or the role of “word of mouth” in marketing [3]. In real world social networks, the nodes with higher centrality values have greater structural importance since these nodes showed more ability to influence others; consequently, they possibly play key roles in the networks behavior. The role of centrality degrees of actors in their importance and influence in the structure of social networks has been studied in various domains such as; targeted marketing, the spread of disease and content sharing . �br /� The utility of SNA in organizational behavior studies is broad; however, this study will focus on understanding the importance of the actors with respect to their ability to influence on other actors in the structure of the enterprise social networks. This study using relational data collected from online enterprise communication services (Yammer) to understand real structure and behavior of the enterprise social network. The significance of this study is using weighted centrality metrics to evaluate the measurement of influence in the network and predict influential nodes in the future
