Biographical details

Currently director of Undergraduate Studies in Civil Engineering, Peter is responsible for overseeing the undergraduate program and managing student issues which affect their studies.

Being teaching focused, Peter has an interest in developing the professional skills of tutors and lecturers through innovative programs and building on the quality of the learning experience for students. This includes a holistic approach to curriculum development with interweaving of engineering professional skills into core units at every stage of the degree.

Peter's variety of education and experiences include materials science, mathematics and statistics, IT systems analysis and actuarial experience. He recently completed a PhD in nanotechnology (molecular electronics) using experimental research in AFM and STM microscopy.

His teaching area is Engineering Mechanics (during the Summer School).
