Thesis title: Modelling of vibrationally induced convective granular flows and granular segregation using granular solid hydrodynamics constitutive framework

Thesis abstract:

The project will research the phenomenon of granular convection in vibrated granular media. Firstly, experiments will be conducted. A cylinder filled with glass beads will be vibrated and filmed with X-Rays, so we could get insight on what is going inside the mass of flowing grains. Upon collecting data, the phenomenon will be explained by using the granular solid hydrodynamics - state of the art approach in describing complex granular flows.
