Food, People and the Planet

Our challenge is to meet the nutritional needs of the world’s population in ways that minimise the creation of environmental adversities and injustices.

The SEI research node Food, People and the Planet is dedicated to the study of an array of complex environmental dilemmas.   How can we find  fair and environmentally sustainable ways to meet the nutritional demand?

By definition, this is a pan-dimensional problem requiring input from across a range of researcher perspectives. Our aim is to further build the University of Sydney’s capacity to deliver multi-disciplinary solutions to this important field.

A team of researchers from five faculties of the University will initiate coordinated research initiatives with a view to contributing to improved understandings of the social, political and economic dimensions of this question.
