Dr. James Smallcombe

James Smallcombe is a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory, in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney. James’ obtained his PhD in Paediatric Physiology from Loughborough University in the UK before commencing a post-doctoral research position within the Environmental Ergonomics Research Centre at the same institution.

His research activities primarily focus on the physiological and physical factors that influence the human response to heat stress. James is currently working on several research projects spanning a range of topics including thermoregulation during childhood and adolescence, and the development of sustainable solutions to mitigate the health risks associated with community heatwave exposure.
