Issue 2: The Great Barrier Reef Collection

Can the Great Barrier Reef survive climate change? Since its inception, The Sydney Environment Institute has worked to foster a multidisciplinary network of researchers, activists and community leaders who are working to explore environmental problems faced by the Great Barrier Reef (GBR).

The articles in this collection explore the history of GBR activism; key debates surrounding GBR political action; coral science and bleaching research; and GBR stories – all which emphasise our ability to alter the current trajectory of the reef. As stated by SEI Co-Director Professor Iain McCalman, whose own work has formed the foundation of SEI’s GBR research, “we can save the reef because we did it once before”.
