Equity and Diversity at the University of Sydney
Our Values
The University of Sydney seeks to remove barriers to access for students and staff from disadvantaged groups within Australian society and to promote equality of opportunity in higher education.
The University of Sydney’s Strategic Directions 2006–2010 document identifies the values that inform the direction of the University. These include merit, equity, diversity and tolerance, honesty, respect and integrity. It is these values that support an equitable, respectful and ethical University community.
Every student and employee at the University of Sydney has the right to expect from their fellow students and colleagues behaviour that reflects these key values, irrespective of background, beliefs or culture. Every student and employee has a right to expect from the University equitable practices that preserve and promote equal opportunity to access, participate, and excel in their chosen field.
