Cycling Confidence Course

Keen to start cycling to University but not quite confident enough to face the traffic? The University of Sydney is offering free Cycling Confidence Courses at the Darlington Campus, ahead of National Ride to Work Day, Wednesday 13 October 2010.

The courses are available to all staff and students with a reasonable cycling ability (ie. not beginner cyclists). The course teaches low risk and responsible riding and is designed for people who can already ride a bike, but want confidence to ride on city streets.

The City of Sydney is kindly sponsoring the Cycling Confidence Courses as part of their overall cycling strategy, an ambitious plan that aims to increase the number of bicycle trips made in the City of Sydney from less than 2% in 2006 to 10% by 2016. Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said, “Bike riding - even in Sydney traffic - is easier than many people might think. For trips of less than 10 km, riding a bike will often get you to work cheaper and faster and will keep you healthy. Better still, it’s a zero emission transport option.”
