What you can do

1. The 2003 waste audit revealed that only 16% of discarded paper was used on both sides – why not try to duplex print and copy when possible – better still set your computer to duplex by default and you won’t have to keep changing the settings. Contact your IT helpdesk to find out how
2. Recycle used printer and toner cartridges - place them in a nearby Planet Ark/Cartridge rescue recycling box or, if there isn’t one close to you, register to have one in your department
3. Recycle your old electrical appliances on campus and where possible replace them with leased equipment
4. Make a note pad out of used single-sided printing
5. Next time you go out for a coffee – take your own mug instead of accepting a disposable one. Most waxed paper products can not be recycled and end up in landfill
