Water facts

• Every two days the University uses a volume of water equivalent to an Olympic swimming pool - however less than 2% of this is actually for drinking.

• At a cost of around $1 million a year, our demand for tap water puts us in the top 20 users of Sydney’s Water.

• Leaking taps and toilets can waste vast amounts of water each year – a leak as small as 0.05 litres per second wastes over 1,577,000 litres of water per year and costs $3,543 (4).
