Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the five simple steps you need to follow to apply for E12.

Look through the 25 University of Sydney courses available through E12, and see if there’s one that would be perfect for you. Make sure you are taking the necessary HSC subjects (check the course requirements), and have a good chance of meeting the required E12 ATAR for that course.

Step 1: Choose a course

Step 2: Meet eligible criteria

Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for entry under E12.

Step 3: Talk to your school principal

You can nominate yourself, or be nominated by your principal for E12. Either way, your principal will need to complete a supporting application – which they submit online after you have applied. That means it’s a good idea to talk to them now (and your careers adviser) about your intention to apply for the E12 scheme, and the university course you want to study.

Step 4: Submit your application online – by 6 September 2013

Once you’ve decided which course you’d like to apply for and have spoken to your principal, visit the E12 website. Make sure you read our helpful hints and tips guide before submitting it online, online applications are now open and close 6 September 2013.

You will need your Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) number to complete the E12 form. That means you need to apply for university entry though UAC first (remember, you can change your UAC preferences any time up to the end of September). Nominate the University of Sydney E12 course you’d like to study as your first preference on the UAC form.

Later in September you may be asked to attend an interview with the faculty that teaches your preferred course, and may need to bring a portfolio showing your work.

We will be in touch before your HSC exams start, to advise if you have been successful in obtaining an early conditional offer through E12.

If you are not attending one of the government-identified schools eligible for E12, then your offer will also be conditional on you being accepted for the UAC Equity Access Scheme. You need to apply for this separately. For details see the UAC website.

Step 5: Sit your HSC exams

Get the best HSC marks possible – all you need to do now is reach the E12 ATAR cut-off for your preferred course, and you’ll be on your way to the University of Sydney!
