Understanding your offer
You will have received one of two types of offer from the University of Sydney.
An Unconditional Offer gives you admission to the University of Sydney. You can now accept your offer and proceed with your enrolment. All offers made through UAC are unconditional.
A Conditional Offer means that you need to satisfy certain conditions before you can be issued with an Unconditional Offer. You cannot accept your offer or make payment until you have an Unconditional Offer.
Meeting the requirements of a Conditional Offer
The most common requirements associated with a Conditional Offer are:
- academic conditions, such as proof that you meet minimum grade requirements or academic transcripts
- English language conditions, such as proof of your English proficiency or certified test results.
If academic conditions apply to your offer, you must submit evidence as soon as possible to show that you have met the requirements. The documents must be originals or certified copies (certification guidelines have been sent to you with your Conditional Offer letter).
If English language conditions apply to your offer, you must submit evidence of your English language proficiency as soon as possible. The University of Sydney’s English language requirements and certification guidelines have been sent to you with your Conditional Offer letter.
If you undertake the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based exam, you need to send an original or certified copy of the Official Score Report. An examinee’s report cannot be accepted. If you ask for your TOEFL score to be sent directly to the University, please quote our institution code: 0867.
You may also choose to study for an ‘English package program’ such as Academic English or the Direct Entry Course.
Information on how to apply for a package program has also seen sent to you with your Conditional Offer letter. The Centre for English Teaching (CET) offers courses in English for academic purposes, and carries out university-entry testing, including the CET University Direct Entry Test. For more information about enrolling in an English package program, please visit CET’s website.
Please note: all documents submitted to the University of Sydney become the property of the University and cannot be returned to you.
Once you have satisfied the conditions of your offer, you will be issued with an Unconditional Offer of admission.
