What are the fees?

Deposit fee

In order to secure your place at the University of Sydney you need to pay a deposit fee, which consists of one semester's fees plus compulsory subscriptions such as the Student Services and Amenities fee.

The deposit fee you need to pay will be listed on the letter that was sent to you, confirming your offer of a place at the University.

If you have applied through UAC and your overseas financial institution requires a fees invoice to withdraw or exchange currency, please request one at the International Student Office.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees need to be paid in the calendar year you commence your course. The latest indicative tuition fees can be found:

All fees are listed in Australian dollars (AU$). To convert to your local currency, visit a currency converter website such as OANDA, XE, Yahoo or Google.

Tuition fees are subject to annual review, and are likely to increase each year during your period of study, effective at the start of each calendar year.

According to the Tuition Protection Service legislation, The University of Sydney is not permitted to collect more than 50 per cent of the total tuition fees for the whole course before you start, unless your course is 24 weeks or less. If you submit an overpayment of the tuition fees, the overpayment will be refunded to your overseas bank account. Incidental fees

Some courses require you to pay incidental fees (in addition to the tuition fees) for items such as tools, equipment, or protective clothing. To find out whether any incidental fees are associated with your course, contact your faculty.

Health insurance

International students must pay for their own health insurance, under the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. This is a requirement of the Australian government. For more information, see Health insurance for international students.

Student Services and Amenities Fee

The recent introduction of a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSA fee) allows the University to further enhance the important co-curricular experiences that we can offer to our students.

Most domestic and international students have to pay the SSA fee. The amount you need to pay is calculated based on your attendance pattern (part-time or full-time). In 2014, it will be $281 for Full-time students and $210.75 for Part-time students.
