As an international student, you may need to demonstrate your English language proficiency to the Australian government (to obtain a student visa), and to the University of Sydney, to be eligible for entry to a university course. The exact requirements depend on the country you are from.

If you are required to demonstrate your English language proficiency to the Australian government in order to get a student visa, you can do this by achieving the required score in an English language test such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
