Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support

We offer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students comprehensive support networks at many levels, providing a safe, respectful and comfortable environment for you to learn and grow. It is a core part of our purpose as a university.

We encourage greater participation in higher education through our Cadigal program and provide support through Student Support Services and Yooroang Garang. Student Support Services runs the Cadigal Alternative Entry Program, which assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with university entry and offers academic and social support from admission through to graduation.

There’s also the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), a Commonwealth-funded program that provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students access to qualified tutors free of charge for either one-on-one or group tuition.

Yooroang Garang is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student support unit for the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Cumberland Campus. It provides support programs, services and facilities.
