Obtaining an Australian student visa
Once you have accepted your Unconditional Offer and paid any applicable fees, you will be sent an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE). You will use this to apply for your Australia student visa.
A range of conditions may affect how you apply for an Australian student visa. Some students will be able to apply for their Australian student visa online while others will be required to submit a paper application. Medical examinations and other documentation may also be required.
Please note that if you do not have an appropriate visa you cannot enrol at the University of Sydney.
Please consult the Department of Immigration and Border Protection for further information.
The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection has discontinued the Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) requirement. This change is intended to reduce the time it takes to process a student visa.
Streamlined visa processing
The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection has recently introduced streamlined visa processing arrangements for all university courses. Under this arrangement, applicants usually have to supply less evidence resulting in a faster visa application process.
The University of Sydney is registered as a participant for streamlined visa processing. Study Abroad and Exchange students are deemed eligible.
