The University of Sydney meets the needs of its students both in and out of the classroom. If things don't go quite as you planned, or if you have particular requirements, we offer a range of services to assist you through your time at university.

Accommodation service

Deciding where to live is a major decision for many students when they start university.

At the University of Sydney, you can choose from a variety of accommodation options. Whether you want to live on campus or off, in share accommodation or on your own, in a flat or in a house, the Accommodation Service can help you find the best option for you.

Child care

There are five child care centres currently operating on or near the Camperdown/Darlington campuses, looking after over 200 children aged from 0 to five years.

Eating and retail

Each campus provides facilities for eating and shopping with students having access to numerous food outlets, a post office, a pharmacy, newsagent, a travel agent, banks, new and second-hand book shops and computer suppliers.

Financial support

We understand that sometimes your fridge breaks down or you have an unexpected medical bill, which can cause enormous stress and disruption. If something like this happens to you, we can step in and help out.

Financial assistance is available for any undergraduate student or postgraduate student enrolled at the University of Sydney who is making satisfactory academic progress and experiencing genuine financial hardship.

Health and welfare

The University provides health and welfare services including counselling, bulk-billing general practitioners (GPs) and disability services.

International student support

The International Office supports international students and can advise you about academic progress, enrolment, scholarships and student visas. They also provide information about Study Abroad and student exchange.

Indigenous student support

Student Support Services and the Koori Centre provide advice, assistance and academic support for Indigenous students and are based on the Camperdown campus.Yooroang Garang provides similar support for students from the Faculty of Health Sciences on the Cumberland Campus.

The University runs the Cadigal Scheme which is a special entry scheme and an academic support program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants from all types of academic backgrounds. It is available for admission into all of the University’s undergraduate courses which are offered through UAC.

Learning assistance services give students the best possible outcomes in terms of intellectual development and career outcomes. They help you improve your study skills and offer bridging courses to bring you to the right level of knowledge for your degree.

Library

The University of Sydney Library is formed from our network of libraries across all campuses. Its collection is available to staff, students and members of the public. The biggest library is Fisher, which is located on the Camperdown campus.
