Applying for entry - international undergraduate students

UAC applications

If you are studying one of the following qualifications, then you should apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC):

  • an Australian Year 12 qualification (eg. NSW HSC, VCE, SA Matriculation) either inside or outside of Australia in the current year
  • the New Zealand Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 in New Zealand in the current year.

All other applications

If you are NOT studying any of the above qualifications in the current year, you should apply directly to the University of Sydney. This includes students who are studying or have completed:

  • secondary (high school) qualifications in another country
  • foundation or TAFE studies in Australia
  • tertiary (university) qualifications

International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) applicants seeking admission to the University of Sydney may apply either directly to the International Office or through the NSW University Admissions Centre (UAC)

To make a direct application to the University of Sydney you should:

  1. complete and submit the online application form or download, complete and print the International Student Undergraduate application form.
    If you are applying for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Bachelor of Visual Arts or a Bachelor of Music program, you will need to download and complete a supplementary application form.
  2. attach all necessary documents (including original or certified copies of academic transcripts, English language tests results and any other supporting documents).
  3. send your application to:

Important note for applicants applying directly to the International Office: The majority of correspondence issued by the University of Sydney is sent via email. In order to ensure that you are receiving all correspondence sent by the University, we would encourage you to add the University of Sydney to your approved sender list. In addition, you should also regularly check your junk mail folder in the event that emails have been filtered incorrectly.

Application through a University representative (agent)

You can also make your application through one of our University of Sydney representatives, either in Australia or in another country. This may be helpful to you if:

  • you need advice on choosing a course of study and living in Australia, or
  • you need assistance with completing documentation required by the University or the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship, or
  • you need a reliable point of contact for communication with the University.
