Arrival in Australia

International Student Arrival Information Sessions – recommended for new arrivals

You should attend an International Student Arrival Information Session as soon as you arrive in Sydney. This Session will provide practical information to get you settled in and ensure your first few weeks in Sydney run as smoothly as possible. Staff and students from across the University will be on hand to provide you with information about key resources on campus. You will learn about a variety of on-campus services, and key information for international students.

Accommodation

Temporary Accommodation, Long-term Accommodation, Housing Information Sessions can be found at the
Accommodation website

We advise you to choose your accommodation very carefully. If you rent housing privately check the conditions of the contract thoroughly. Property owners may ask you to sign contracts that have very strict conditions (for example, no guests after a specified time of day, no smoking etc). In some cases you may be expected to pay the property owner a "fine" if these conditions are not satisfied. If you have any concerns about the content of a contract we strongly encourage you to seek advice before signing. The University's Students' Representative Council (SRC) can provide you with very important information about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant or lodger.

International Orientation Program

The International Orientation Program is held prior to the commencement of each semester. This program includes a range of activities including information sessions, faculty-specific orientation activities, guided campus tours, library tours and social activities.
