A new Institute for Research of Asbestos-related Diseases in Sydney

Professor Nico van Zandwijk, Director of the recently established Bernie Banton Centre for research into asbestos diseases, profiled the centre to an audience of occupational health and epidemiology experts. The event was hosted by Peking University Health Science Centre.

Professor van Zanwijk's presentation attracted a small but focussed audience which included Professor Zhao Jinyuan, Former Director of Research Center of Occupational Medicine, Professor Zhao Yiming, Deputy Director of Research Center of Occupational Medicine, Director of the Center for Clinical Epidemiology Research, Professor Wang Sheng, Vice President of Chinese Society of Occupational Health, Deputy Director of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health and Professor HE Lihua, Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. The audience exchanged information about their research endeavours and discussed the possibility for future collaboration.

The Faculty of Medicine is developing a strong relationship with Peking University Health Science Centre around the themes of biomedical research and medical education reform. This adds to the strong relationship that the George Institute for International Health has with this prestigious university.
