Developing a partnership between Sydney Medical School and medical institutions in Ghana for capacity building in health education

Funded by: International Project Development Fund and Sydney Medical School

Project: Effective education of health care staff is essential to the provision of appropriate patient care. This project aims to explore the development of collaborative networks around workforce development with the two partner medical institutions in Ghana in consultation with the Ministry of Education, Ghana. Key areas include building capacity among clinical teachers in the teaching skills necessary to plan and deliver interactive hands-on learning activities.

KENYA

Partnership for the Abandonment of Female Genital Cutting in East Africa

Funded by: International Project Development Fund and Sydney Medical School

Project: Building on existing maternal health services for prevention and treatment of obstetric fistula & emergency obstetric care at the University of Nairobi (UoN) and in partnership with WHO, University of Sydney will establish a Partnership for Research and Capacity Building for Abandonment of Female Genital Cutting. A first in the world, this Partnership will eventually encompass sub-Saharan Africa.

Building Kenya’s capacity to respond to non-communicable diseases

Project: Building on partnerships with the University of Nairobi and the Kenyan Ministry of Health, this program will work to build Kenya’s capacity to response to the increasing non-communicable disease burden through the development and delivery of short-courses for health workers.
