Outgoing non-elective University of Sydney students to Fudan Medical School in Shanghai
Number of places: Up to two University of Sydney students will be nominated to represent the Faculty under this scheme. Students undertaking their fixed elective term may also apply for the maximum two places available.
Institution: The medical school at Fudan University was formerly known as Shanghai 1st Medical University until it merged in April 2000. Shanghai Medical University was established in 1927 and is one of the top medical schools in China. You will be based at one of the teaching hospitals of Fudan University in Shanghai. These are likely to be either Huashan or Zhongshan Hospitals.
The Sydney Medical school has a number of active collaborations with Fudan Medical School, particularly in General Practice and Public Health (especially tobacco control and child and maternal health). Interested students are encouraged to read about our collaborations.
Language: Some Mandarin Chinese would be helpful but not essential to this placement. Information on language courses available through the University of Sydney can be found at our Resources pages.
Duration: The placement can be 4-8 weeks duration.
