Outgoing non-elective University of Sydney students to Nepal
Number of places: Up to two University of Sydney students will be nominated to represent the Faculty under this scheme. Students undertaking their fixed elective term may also apply for the maximum two places available.
Institution: The Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) is one of our newest partners and a new medical school for Nepal. Students will be able to undertake a clinical placement t the Patan Hospital - just outside Kathmandu. There is a strong community medicine focus to the teaching at PAHS and the curriculum is problem-based.
Duration: Up to two students may spend 4-8 weeks on this clinical placement.
Other: During 2011, the Sydney Medical School hosted two faculty members Dr Ram Krishna Dulal and Dr SujanVaidya from PAHS and our students were able to meet them and also get to know two PAHS students Anjit and Neeti. University of Sydney students have also raised funds and donated textbooks to PAHS in 2011.
A tuition fee will be required to support the costs at PAHS. Travel, accommodation and living expenses and arrangements will be the students' responsibility.
