George Institute, Beijing (China)
This is a research placement for students to be based at the George Institute, Beijing. A small amount of time may be arranged for some clinical observation in one of the hospitals of Peking University Health Science Centre, but the major focus of this placement is research.
The George Institute for International Health
The George Institute China is an affiliated research centre of the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney. They also have an affiliation with the Peking University Health Sciences Center, one of the top medical schools in China.
Students will be able to complete a small piece of research with one of the local staff on one of the Institute’s research projects, which may include clinical trials in cardiovascular disease and injury prevention.
The University of Sydney’s Faculties of Health also has some shared office space in this facility. The Dean has offered a $3,000 George Institute China scholarship for one student during this placement which will be awarded by the selection panel to the best applicant. Students may need to find their own accommodation in Beijing for this period but some assistance may be obtained from staff at the George Institute Office China.
