Graduate Studies Office
The Graduate Studies Office (GSO) serves as a focus for all higher degree by research activities across The University of Sydney. The GSO aims to enhance the quality of coursework and research higher degrees and the postgraduate experience by working closely with faculties and other units of the University to provide support on key processes and policies.

At the latest SEG Research Training Committee meeting, the following summary “Student Research Experience Questionnaire (SREQ) Reports – Faculty Responses to the 2012 reports: a compilation” (PDF) was presented. This is a University summary of what HDR students said about their experience, and what the Faculties said in response. There has been a marked improvement in satisfaction with supervision from the students’ point of view. And read what Faculties say they have been doing to improve supervision. The Training Needs Analysis is a tool for managing, reflecting on and helping to promote Higher Degree by Research skills development.
Academic Board approved the new Supervision of Higher Degree by Research Students policy (PDF, 0.2MB) in February 2013.
