Graduate Diploma in International Business Law


These resolutions must be read in conjunction with applicable University By-laws, Rules and policies including (but not limited to) the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2014 (the 'Coursework Rule'), the Coursework Policy 2014, the Resolutions of the Faculty, the University of Sydney (Student Appeals against Academic Decisions) Rule 2006 (as amended) and the Academic Board policies on Academic Dishonesty and Plagiarism. Up to date versions of all such documents are available from the Policy Register: http://www.sydney.edu.au/policies.

2 Attendance pattern

The attendance pattern for this course is full-time or part-time according to candidate choice.

3 Embedded courses in this sequence

(1)
The embedded courses in this sequence are:
(a)
the Graduate Diploma in International Business Law
(b)
the Master of Business Law
(2)
Provided that candidates satisfy the admission requirements for each stage, a candidate may progress to the award of any of the courses in this sequence. Only the longer award completed will be conferred.

4 Admission to candidature

(1)
Available places will be offered to qualified applicants based on merit, according to the following admissions criteria.

Admission to the course requires:
(a)
a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification.

5 Requirements for award

The units of study that may be taken for the course are set out in the table of units of study for the Graduate Diploma in International Business Law. To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma in International Business Law, a candidate must complete 24 credit points, including a minimum of 12 credit points of core units of study.

6 Course transfer

A candidate, who has completed the requirements for the graduate diploma but has not had the diploma awarded, may apply for admission to candidature for the master's degree in the embedded sequence with credit for work completed towards the diploma.

7 Transitional provisions

(1)
These resolutions apply to students who commenced their candidature on or after 1 January 2017.
(2)
Students who commenced prior to 1 January 2017 will complete the requirements in accordance with the resolutions in force at the time of their commencement. The School may specify a later date for completion or specify alternative requirements for completion of candidatures that extend beyond the prescribed time limits.
