On successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Nursing, students will be able to:

1 Critically evaluate research, both quantitative and qualitative, and demonstrate the ability to engage in enquiry orientated activities to support decision making at the beginning level of practice.
2 Demonstrate information literacy proficiency in searching out knowledge required for critical thinking and problem solving in nursing practice from the biological, medical, social sciences, humanities and arts perspective.
3 Display leadership through the use of personal, professional, intellectual and creative autonomy and demonstrate accountability and responsibility that is embedded in the nursing role.
4 Evaluate disciplinary knowledge and practice across specified areas of nursing in the therapeutic care of patients.
5 Work within professional, legal and ethical frameworks relevant to the nursing profession and take responsibility for their own actions.
6 Share professional nursing practice expertise and knowledge when working collaboratively in interdisciplinary contexts.
7 Identify and explore cultural differences, values and beliefs of the individual or group to the culturally diverse nature of contemporary Australian society.
8 Appraise social, global and environmental responsibilities within the healthcare context and the impact of these on the roles and responsibilities of nurses.
9 Demonstrate proficient use of communication as a tool for negotiating and interacting with others and make effective use of oral, written, visual and digital means to communicate understanding.
10 Exercise clinical judgement based on a sound ability to critique nursing knowledge and practices.
11 Demonstrate capability as a  beginning practitioner to engage effectively in the therapeutic care of patients.
12 Demonstrate a depth of disciplinary knowledge in at least one field in the arts, humanities and/or social sciences by applying discipline-based expertise to research, project, and work-based problems.
13 Synthesise knowledge, experience and practice by constructing and testing new arguments and proposing evidence-based solutions.
14 Communicate complex ideas and data effectively to diverse audiences through context-dependent forms of communication.
15 Critically analyse and evaluate competing sources of knowledge and information using a variety of different modes of communication.
16 Approach local and global challenges in research, professional practice, and civil life with personal integrity and intellectual rigour.
