Biographical details
Dr Ann-Helen Patomella (AHP) has a PhD in Occupational Therapy, with key concepts of Traffic Medicine, Instrument Development, Stroke and Awareness of Disability. She recently moved over to Sydney from Stockholm Sweden and a position as senior lecturer and post-doc at Karolinska Institutet.
The general aim of her thesis was to contribute to the theory development and to develop assessment tools focusing on driving ability and awareness of driving ability among people with stroke or dementia. AHP has developed a new assessment tool, Performance Analysis of Driving Ability (P-Drive), for assessing practical driving ability in people with stroke or dementia. The instrument is currently used both in research and clinically in Scandinavia. Developer and project leader of the research and education of the assessment tool P-Drive. In research AHP has been engaged in projects due to her competence in quantitative and instrument development methods. AHP currently holds a position as lecturer at the University of Sydney, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Occupational Therapy.
