Biographical details

Annie is an occupational therapist and a health sciences researcher. She has been awarded over $2 million in research funding and published over 40 peer reviewed articles, including clinical trials , systematic reviews and qualitative studies. Her research and teaching focus on improving the quality of life and rehabilitation outcomes of stroke survivors and people with neurological conditions. Several studies involve helping clinicians to implement evidence into practice, and identifying barriers to practice change.

Other research and teaching interests include: measuring the effect and outcomes of occupational therapy interventions such as hand splinting, handwriting training and motor (upper limb) rehabilitation.

Annie is sub-editor of Critically Appraised Papers for the Australian Occupational Therapy Journal, as well as a reviewer and Editorial Board member for that journal. She is also an Editorial Board for the journal Brain Impairment.

Together with colleagues from the University of Queensland, Annie developed and manages OTseeker, an occupational therapy evidence database (http://www.otseeker.com/). This internationally acclaimed database enables occupational therapists to access evidence at no cost. OTseeker contains over 9,000 records of randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews relevant to occupational therapy.
