Biographical details

Dr Catherine Gregory is a clinical educator and lecturer with the Discipline of Speech Pathology, at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She is currently a tutor for both dysphagia and voice lectures and is responsible for the running of a multidisciplinary student voice assessment clinic with ENT Dr Daniel Novakovic, held within the communication disorders treatment and research clinic.

Prior to retraining with a Masters in Speech Pathology, Dr Gregory graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Human Physiology and worked as a Neuroscientist at GlaxoSmithKline in the UK. She was awarded a PhD in Neurophysiology from Imperial College, London and came to Australia in 2002 where she headed a research project at the Victor Chang Institute as an ARC Postdoctoral Fellow, being honoured with the “Young Australian Biophysicist of the Year” award before giving in to her urge to work with the brain in a whole person rather than in a petri dish.

Research interests

Dr Gregory’s particular research interests now include voice assessment and rehabilitation. She has a particular curiosity around the neurological control of voice and the basis of both spasmodic dysphonia and psychogenic voice disorders.
