Biographical details

Dr Scarf is a lecturer in international projects in health at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She teaches and researches at the intersection of international health and development studies. Her research explores the politics of inclusion in knowledge-based health and development initiatives. This includes a major study of donor-sponsored knowledge networks for which she conducted fieldwork in Africa, Asia and South America. Her current projects focus on disability inclusive development, and internationalisation of health education through short-term placements in developing countries. She is interested in questions about power, partnership, participation, communication and learning in North-South encounters in the context of development.
