Biographical details

Ms Bourne is an associate lecturer in Work Integrated Learning, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. She is a speech pathologist who worked as a clinician and then manager within NSW Health before joining the university. Ms Bourne’s current research focus is her doctoral studies entitled “The impact of clinical education on speech pathology productivity in NSW public health services”. This project aligns her interests in the speech pathology workforce as well as clinical education. Ms Bourne is also interested in other research and scholarly teaching projects focussed on better equipping clinical educators to support allied health students on placement.

Teaching and supervision

Elizabeth teaches and coordinates Work Integrated Learning units for undergraduate and graduate entry masters students. She has experience teaching students across a range of disciplines including speech pathology, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and has also taught students completing other degrees including the Bachelor of Health Sciences.

She is also currently co-supervising an undergraduate honours student project “Knowledge to action: how clinical educators transform knowledge from clinical education workshops to supervisory practices when facing challenging situations” due for completion in 2019
