Biographical details
Dr Brock is an experienced nutritional epidemiologist who has collaborated internationally (both at the postdoctoral and sabbatical levels). In her postdoctoral years at the National Cancer Institute she published in high impact journals with numerous citations in the areas of nutrition and cancer.
Since her employment at the University of Sydney she has concentrated on cardiovascular epidemiology in adolescents and Vietnamese and Chinese immigrants and in parallel, the epidemiology of vitamin D deficiency in immigrants and the elderly. She has been successful in gaining funding for her work with Vietnamese immigrants, obesity in adolescents and in the areas of metabolic and cancer epidemiology and vitamin D deficiency in the elderly and immigrant groups. As a result of these grants she has extensive experience in developing nutritional and biochemical methodologies, accessing and interviewing subjects and supervising staff.
In collaboration with colleagues in Cancer Epidemiology, Genetics and Biostatistics at the National cancer Institute she have expanded her research in vitamin D to epidemiological analyses of vitamin D predictors in the controls of two large trials (Alpha-tocopherol and beta-carotene trial (ATBC) and the Prostate Lung, Colon and Ovarian preventive trial (PLCO) with the subsequent publication of one paper and submission of two others.
