Biographical details
Mary initially received her training in the area of Bioinformatics and developed a keen interest in health informatics and health information management while completing her PhD. She received further training in health information management at the University of Sydney after obtaining her PhD. Mary has occupied various positions as a practicing informatician and information manager at different health organisations before joining the University of Sydney. During her period as practitioner of health informatics, she developed working knowledge in the design and development of health information systems as well as skills in the management, linkage and analysis of large scale health data sets.
After becoming a member of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Mary developed a strong interest in eHealth Education and Research. She has established research projects with colleagues from across the University. Mary is one of the chief investigators on a number of ehealth projects that exam the use of technology in health delivery and the impact of technology on well-being. She is currently the lead investigator of two ehealth education projects.
Mary has also been involving in different research studies as a consultant informatician providing her skills and expertise in database design and development; health system data management, linkage and analysis
