Dr Mirim Shin

Dr Mirim Shin is a research fellow with the Youth Mental Health & Technology Team at the Brain and Mind Centre. She received a Bachelor of Health Science (Hons Class I, Thesis Title: Positive emotions associated with Counter-Strike game playing) in 2011 and a PhD (Thesis Title: Influence of sleeping apparel and bedding textile on thermal comfort and sleep) in 2015. She further worked on sleep and thermoregulation with the older population. Recently she worked in a team that focuses on the health and well-being of older people with dementia and their care partners by improving care quality and service. Dr Shin now joins the Brain and Mind Centre’s Youth Mental Health and Technology Team to explore the relationships between sleep-wake cycles and mental health problems among young people, ultimately aiming to help patients through sleep and circadian targeted interventions.

Dr Shin studies on the causal relationship between objective circadian disturbances and mental illness profiles and progression.
