Biographical details
Dr Natalie Munro is a certified practicing speech language pathologist whose research, teaching and clinical interests span across child and adolescent language development and disorders. Natalie completed her PhD (2008) at Sydney University and examined the word-learning abilities of children with Specific Language Impairment. Natalie’s research interests include; 1) investigating individual differences in children’s speech, language and social skills development among learners who have specific language impairment, ADHD and language-based learning disabilities, 2) treatment efficacy and evidence-based practice to support children and adolescents with additional needs, their families, their educators and their communities.
Natalie obtained a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Studies (2009) and a University of Sydney Brown Equity Fellowship (2013). Natalie’s word learning research collaborators include scholars from the Kids Talk Lab at the University of Sydney, the word learning Lab at the University of Iowa and the Waisman Centre at the University of Madison-Wisconsin. Natalie’s pragmatic and social skills research collaborators include scholars at the University of Sydney and James Cook University. Natalie is a member of the International Association for the Study of Child Language, and Speech Pathology Australia. She is the Scientific Affairs leader for the NSW Branch of Speech Pathology Australia. Natalie is a founding committee member of speechBITE.
