Biographical details
Ros has played a major role in the development of national disability definition, measurement and statistics in Australia since 1992, and internationally in the development and implementation of the WHO's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Ros was Co-Chair of the Functioning and Disability Reference Group, WHO Family of International Classifications Network from 2006 to 2012 and a member of the Editorial Committee for the World Report on Disability from 2007 to 2011.
From 1992 to 2006 Ros led the work on functioning and disability statistics at the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). A key to successful development during this period was the consultation process instituted by Ros - advisory committees involving people with disabilities, NGOs and independent researchers as well as government officials. Previously Ros worked on the development and analysis of information and statistics in areas including health; welfare; justice; traffic accidents; and safety, rehabilitation and compensation. Her work was primarily in government, as well as in non-government organisations and as a consultant.
