Dr Sarah Masso is an Early Career Development Fellow and lecturer with the Discipline of Speech Pathology at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She is also an adjunct research associate with Charles Sturt University, Australia and an honorary postdoctoral fellow of Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada.

Sarah is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and a member of Speech Pathology Australia and Services for Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH). She is also a member of the International Expert Panel on Multilingual Children’s Speechand contributed to the recent publication exploring the speech assessment of multilingual children who do not speak the same language(s) as the speech-language pathologist. Sarah is a 2017 Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowand will conduct part of her postdoctoral research with the Department of Linguistics at Memorial University, Canada.

Research interests

Sarah’s research interests include the implementation of technology to support education, clinical practice and decision-making of speech-language pathologists, the accurate identification and diagnosis of children with early speech and language delay who may also be at risk of literacy difficulties, and exploring the key features of effective intervention for children with speech sound disorders. She is also committed to supporting the implementation of evidence-based practice in speech pathology practice. Sarah is a member of the Kids Talk Labat The University of Sydney and a member of the Communication Sciences and Disordersteam.
