Biographical details
A/Prof Steven Cumming first graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University, before completing Honours and Masters in Psychology at the University of Tasmania. He worked as Clinical Psychologist in Tasmania and NSW before commencing his PhD at the University of UNSW. He worked at Charles Sturt University from 1995-1997 before moving to the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney. Steven was Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) in the Faculty from 2004-2007 and Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) from 2007-2009. He has a keen interest in enhancing the university experience of students in the Faculty of Health Sciences, and is currently Director of Study Abroad and Student Exchange.
Research interests
Steven’s research interest is directed towards the impact of psychological, particularly cognitive, factors of decision making and performance, and on aspects of communication and character type in intimate relationships.
Teaching and supervision
His teaching is mostly in the areas of cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, but he also teaches counseling and therapy units into many courses.
