Professor Vicki Flood

Professor Vicki Flood, Head of Clinical School, Northern Rivers and Director of University Centre for Rural Health (UCRH), Northern Rivers, with Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. The UCRH has a footprint north to Mullumbimby, south to Grafton, west to Bonalbo and east to Ballina/ Byron, and works closely with multiple institutions to support education, research and workforce development in Northern NSW. In this role Vicki brings together her skills in leadership, education and research, and applies these to an education-oriented health setting in rural NSW. Vicki has a background in nutrition and dietetics, epidemiology and public health, and research areas include nutrition and aging, disability, micronutrient research, food insecurity, population-based cohort studies and intervention studies to slow progression of chronic disease and neurodegenerative diseases. Vicki's research interests include implementation science and health services research.

Vicki’s main areas of research include nutrition and eye disease, food security of vulnerable population groups, micronutrient research (e.g. folate, Vitamin B12, sodium, carotenoids), nutrition and healthy ageing, nutrition and disability, nutrition and neurodegenerative diseases, improving food environments to increase the availability of healthy foods and supporting aboriginal health research. Vicki is the president-elect for Nutrition Society of Australia.
