YOUNG ADULTS WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS OR DISABILITY

Mission

This area of AFDSRC's work focuses on the social determinants of the health and well-being of adolescents and young adults with a disability or chronic illness.

Central to our focus is the recognition that these young people and their families face considerable disadvantages compared to their peers but that these inequalities are not inevitable. As such, the poorer health and well-being of adolescents and young adults with a disability or chronic illness become issues of social (in)justice. Government policy, social conditions and health care practices can all be modified to enhance the health and wellbeing of young adults with a disability or chronic illness.

You can find a comprehensive list of every publication the AFDSRC has produced under "Publications".
