Health Care Team Challenge Competition 2013

The Flaming Reds are off to Queensland to participate in the HealthFusion Team Challenge on Friday 30 August.

The University of Sydney Health Care Team Challenge took place on Wednesday 22 May at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Cumberland Campus. The challenge is a cross-faculty interprofessional competition and this year it was hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences in conjunction with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sydney Medical School and Sydney Nursing School.

The University of Sydney has now been involved in this challenge since 2010. This year was the first time that the Faculty of Pharmacy participated and the first time that eight teams with between five and six students competed. There were 42 students in total who competed.

Each team presented their case management plan relating to a Vietnamese patient called ‘Anh’, a 55 year old female inpatient at a major Sydney rehabilitation hospital. The multidisciplinary team were tasked with developing a comprehensive plan for Anh during her rehabilitative phase.

The judges remarked on the calibre of the presentations and congratulated all teams on their hard work before declaring Team 5 The Flaming Reds the winners, followed by Team 7 Aqua Angels as second runner up, and Team 2 Garden Trousers as third runner up. The other teams who participated and also did very well were: Team 1 Awkward Turtles, Team 3 V, Team 4 Concrete, Team 6 Interpretive Dancers and Team 8 Stroke of Genius

The Flaming Reds are off to Queensland to participate in the HealthFusion Team Challenge on Friday 30 August. The team members are Sally Dickson (Physiotherapy), Monique Helmers (Speech Pathology), Myfanwy Pennells (Nursing), Michelle Ren (Pharmacy) and Izak Van Der Walt (Medicine).
