Exercise, Health and Performance
Exercise has a large effect on the human body and all of its systems. The Exercise, Health and Performance Research Group studies this effect from birth to the very old.
The Group focuses on two seemingly contrasting dimensions of exercise. One is how exercise can help people recover from injury and improve the well being of people with chronic conditions. The other looks at maximising the performance of elite athletes.
The same disciplines underpin both areas. These are exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, motor control and learning and sleep physiology.
