Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences
Radiation has many medical applications. The Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences Research Group conducts research into medical imaging using radiation to:
- identify an early target in the disease process
- discover drugs that interact with these targets
- through imaging, investigate how these targets change as a result of disease
The Group also looks at using radiotherapy to more effectively treat cancer and the psychological effects of undergoing cancer treatment.
In essence, the Group makes science discoveries that relate to health sciences. Its members are drawn from many areas and include chemists, physicists, radiation therapists, diagnostic radiographers and neurobiologists.
