Better Access to Psychiatrists, Psychologists and General Practitioners through the Medicare Benefits Scheme Initiative
From 1 November 2006, the Australian Government introduced new Medicare items for psychological treatment by Registered Psychologists. This means there is now a Medicare rebate available for appointments with Psychologists if your General Practitioner (GP) refers you and draws up a care plan with you (all GPs are able to do this).
